Class
I provide two kinds of art classes: Japanese Calligraphy, and Sumi-e (Japanese ink painting).
These give participants a chance to experience a different art form, and enjoy learning a skill they may never have tried before – lots of fun, for ages 10 to adult.
The classes can be held at schools, community centres, galleries, or (if applicable) your business premises. Sydney / NSW only. They can also be held online if preferred – in this case, participants must supply their own materials (brushes, ink, etc).
These classes require no knowledge of Sumi-e (or any painting skill) or of Japanese characters.
All materials are provided and participants can take their artworks home with them.
Japanese calligraphy class
This course can be customised to fit your classes’ schedule and level. The creative but delicate art of calligraphy is a great way to experience Japanese culture for all learners – both adult and school ages.
Time: 45min to 1.5 hours/class
Sumi-e class
Sumi in Japanese means “ink” and e means “painting”. Sumi-e uses various techniques of gradation, shading, bleeding, and blurring. Using different brush techniques, and different mixtures of water and ink, you can create gorgeous mountain scenery, forest vistas, and elegant bamboo stands!
Time: 1.5 hours to 2 hours/class
