Tomoko creates Japanese calligraphy, sumi-e and abstract art.
She uses the bold and versatile medium of traditional Japanese calligraphy ink in creating artworks inspired by the flora and natural landscapes of Australia and Japan. Her calligraphy, sumi-e (ink-art) and abstract works have been used in high-profile marketing and advertising, bespoke murals and design features for restaurants, and private commission artworks.
Tomoko also provides exciting and dynamic large-brush calligraphy performances, for corporate and private events, as well as for festivals. She loves interacting with people, it is a great joy for her to share Japanese culture through her passion for calligraphy and the beauty of the Japanese aesthetic.
Tomoko is available for commissions, calligraphy orders, and events. She is based in Sydney and the Central Coast.
After weeks of planning the artist spent 4 weeks creating a breathtaking piece of art. Due to the masterful skills of Tomoko, the work has become a powerful backdrop and a constant reminder of staff and customers of the Sokyo principles of ritual and art.
